It's important to keep your gas tank full. The more gas you have in the tank the less air and that's a good thing. Air has condensation in it and if that condensation ends up in the fuel lines they can freeze in the cold months of winter. If you have frozen fuel lines then your car will not start.
Make it a habit to keep your gas tank topped up and you will not have any issues due to having a low fuel tank.
